Nick Armitage - owner and chef
Nick has been cooking and working in restaurants since he was 14. He trained at Prue Leiths and has always had a great passion for the industry. After opening a successful restaurant in New Zealand he returned home looking for a suitable venue in his home town Bristol. After 8 years at ‘The Picturehouse’, his first restaurant in Bristol, he decided to move directly opposite to the old ‘Quartier Vert’ site, as its sunnier aspect and outside seating made it the perfect site for the new restaurant that was to be ‘The TownHouse’.
He has a penchant for grandfather clocks and a good Dickens novel.
Vanessa Adam - owner and manager
Vanessa met Nick in New Zealand where she worked with him in his first restaurant. She moved with him to England and was a teacher for a while until she decided to join Nick in his trade. Incidentally, Vanessa had been working in restaurants since her student days, so she had a good idea about what she wanted from her own restaurant. She’s also learnt a huge amount from Nick who just loves telling her how to do things his way!
Vanessa cares deeply about people in general and her customers in particular, and she ensures her staff have the same level of customer care and genuine pride in giving customers a fantastic experience when they are at the TownHouse.
